Hoi An Shopping and Dining TIPS

Hoi An - I love you!!!

Hoi An is without a doubt one of my favourite places not just in Asia but in the WORLD! For those people who have not yet had the pleasure of gracing her shores she can best be described as a beautiful blend of Asia and Europe, a shoppers heaven, a culinary gold mine and a trip down memory lane.

The old town in Hoi An is World Heritage Listed which is reassuring to know that the charm of this town will not be lost. Once an old Portside town you can see remnants of the French, Portuguese and Japanese traders in her architecture.

Today it is a shopping heaven with an estimated 250 tailors who can whip up everything from ball gowns to shoes to ‘original fake’ Tiffany jewels to handbags.

Here are some shopping TIPS:

 - Everything can be made overnight but leave 2 days to be sure to be sure.

 - If you have clothing you love take it along and get it copied.

 - If you are after a specific print best to bring from home as alot of the prints you find in Hoi An will be outdated.

 - If you are not happy with the end result just let the tailor know and they will change and change and change again until you are happy... don’t be shy :-)

 - Shop around - it’s fun.

The most famous tailor is Yaly on Nguyen Duy Hieu St and I have had great success here. This time around I tried a new tailor called Kim Only (she is located in the cloth market, if you have a hard time finding her just ask someone they will take you to her :-). Her team did an amazing job on all of our clothes and really reasonably priced!
