A 3-4 hour bumpy bus ride from Phnom Penh down to Cambodia's south coast you will find the sleepy seaside village that feels like time has forgotten, the blissful Kep.

A world away from the hustle and bustle of Phnom Penh, it is a place where it would be extremely hard not to relax, it is probably for this reason that so many expats escape down for weekend getaways and this is one of the reasons that this is my new fave place in SE Asia... Foodie. Relaxing. Heaven.

Too many times I have found myself on holidays with half a bag full of stuff that I don’t wear while wishing I had other stuff!!! I have turned up on a work trip with no undies, on a beach getaway with no swimsuit, to the snow with no scarf or gloves... you get the drift. I now have a little checklist before any trip - click through and check it out!

Firstly a BIG Happy Khmer New Year - In Cambodia we celebrate the new year for not 1 but 3 whole days with some weird and wonderful traditions, there is flour and talcum powder being thrown all over one another, water bombs, young people just riding around on scooters beeping their horns and of course the mandatory beer swilling, dancing and karaoke that accompanies any good Cambodian party (after your visit to the pagoda to make your offerings and prayers of course)!

This is just one crazy tradition and got me thinking about what other weird and wonderful new year traditions there are around the world so this week I bring you my top 5 wackiest new year traditions! Click through to have a squizz - think smashing plates, polar dips and fake boobs!!

I am so excited to write this weeks blog as I have started my exploration of Cambodia’s islands!

First stop - Koh Ta Kiev. How could I go wrong with an island with a name that conjured up thoughts of breaded chicken stuffed with lashings of garlic butter?

Ducky – Why have you quit your secure, amazing job that flies you to exotic locations? Why are you selling everything you own and hitting the road when you are 34 and should be thinking about babies and mortgages? Why are you leaving your amazing friends and family behind to move to a place where nobody knows your name? Ducky – are you crazy? Well no, at least not diagnosed :o)

Have you ever been on holiday only to get home and feel like you needed a holiday? I know I have!!! Introducing... a new style of travel! Travel for wellness is one of the industries hottest emerging markets, so this week, after I was asked from a good friend to recommend a detox centre in Cambodia, I got to searching for options in wellness holidays in Cambodia!

After some research I found that, while we are lacking here the kind of all-inclusive centers/resorts that our neighbouring countries boast, if you dig a little deeper there are still plenty of options for anyone after a holiday in Cambodia with a focus on wellness and wellbeing!

Click through for my 5 top options including a suggested itinerary.

I have been so pleasantly surprised by not only the calibre of the food here in Phnom Penh but the availability of just about any type of cuisine your taste buds desire. She really does boast the selection and quality to rival any capital city in the world!

As a result of this I have a confession...

I am running private day tours as well as retreats in Cambodia
