Wellness Holidays in Cambodia

Have you ever been on holiday only to get home and feel like you needed a holiday? I know I have!!! Introducing... a new style of travel! Travel for wellness is one of the industries hottest emerging markets, so this week, after I was asked from a good friend to recommend a detox centre in Cambodia, I got to searching for options in wellness holidays in Cambodia!

After some research I found that, while we are lacking here the kind of all-inclusive centers/resorts that our neighbouring countries boast, if you dig a little deeper there are still plenty of options for anyone after a holiday in Cambodia with a focus on wellness and wellbeing!

Here are my top 5 top options including a suggested itinerary.

1. Yoga Phnom Penh Retreats

Details: The lovely Oskar and Alison from Yoga Phnom Penh offer retreats every 2 months or so - check out their website for up and coming dates. The focus is on yoga, meditation and relaxation.

2. ARTillery Detox Week

Details: ARTillery is an amazing cafe now with 2 locations here in Phnom Penh. Their focus is on raw, organic, vegan, vegetarian and simple healthy food options. They offer a 5 day raw food cleanse every month. Check out their facebook page for dates.

3. The Vine Retreat

Details: Located among the pepper plantations in the countryside of Kep, the Vine offers a remote oasis away from the hustle and bustle. A beautiful guest house with pool area, all their food comes from their organic garden or is locally sourced and they have a strong responsible travel policy. An amazing experience. 4. Hariharalya Yoga and Meditation Retreat

Details: Located 15kms out of Siem Reap this retreat has come a long way in the 2 short years it has been open. The retreat provides the right environment for whatever you are after, be it relaxing and unwinding, right through to spiritual awakening. For booking info click HERE

5. Song Saa Private Island

Details: ‘Luxury that treads lightly’, Song Saa is setting a new standard in luxury with its eco-friendly resort located on the islands of Koh Ouen and Kong Bong off the south coast of Cambodia. The ultimate splash out... go on, you’re worth it! For bookings click HERE.

Suggested Itinerary for your wellness holiday in Cambodia:

Explore the Kingdom’s Capital, take in the must see sites such as the Royal Palace, the killing fields, Tuol Sleng Museum, all of the different markets and perhaps some yoga classes while enjoying the 5 day raw food detox. Food can be delivered to your hotel, expect to be cleansed and revitalised!

Day 5-7 Kep

Head down to Kep to The Vine Retreat with Yoga Phnom Penh for one of their amazing Yoga Retreats. Enjoy a weekend of yoga and meditation in stunning surroundings among the pepper plantations with organic and locally sourced meals from the retreats kitchen.

Day 7-10 Koh Bong/Koh Ouen

Now for the luxurious splash out - head over to Song Saa on the picturesque islands of Koh Ouen and Koh Bong for 3 nights in what is arguably Cambodia’s most luxurious resort. All activities, food and drink are included. Expect to be pampered in a setting of ‘luxury that treads lightly’.

Day 10 Phnom Penh

Day 10-20 Siem Reap

About 15kms out of Siem Reap you will find the Hariharalya Yoga and Meditation Retreat. Fill your days with yoga, meditation, dancing, reading or simply swinging in a hammock staring at the beautiful surrounds (thats not even touching on the amazing food). There is one thing for certain here, no matter how long you stay it won’t be enough and you will not want to leave!

I hope you enjoyed these suggestions. I actually love the fact Cambodia is not as developed as it neighbours however she still has all the facilities for a rejuvenating wellness experience, you just have to delve a little deeper! If you like the idea of traveling for wellness or know of someone who is looking at holidaying in Cambodia be sure to SHARE this around and send to your friends!
