$770.00
Join us on a private food, art and architecture tour of Southern Cambodia. From the world famous Kampot Pepper, to the crumbling abandoned art deco villas in neighbouring Kep, this relaxed getaway has the perfect balance of touring, gastronomy, culture, history and free time.
What’s included:
Day 1 – (D)
Pick up at Phnom Penh Airport, Phnom Penh Hotels, Sihanoukville or Shinta Mani WILD for your Private Transfer to Kampot.
Welcome dinner and drinks, meet your host at our amazing boutique accommodation – a converted Art Deco Theatre from the 1930s, steeped in history and praised for their food and attention to detail.
Day 2 – (B,L,D)
10am – 12pm – Discover the past, present and future of this sleepy riverside town on a Kampot Art and Architecture Tour. This is followed by lunch at one of the most popular cafes in the Old Market area. A social enterprise, the eatery generates funds for arts-based therapy programs for Cambodian adults and kids.
Enjoy an afternoon at leisure. Suggestions: shopping, chilling by the pool or river, touring up Bokor mountain, a trip to the secret lake or the waterfalls.
530pm – Meet for sunset and dinner at the best Cambodian restaurant in the south, owned and run by our favourite Khmer Boss Lady – Darin, Restaurant 1960. Expect creative Cambodian cuisine, favourites with a twist in a super relaxed garden setting.
Day 3 – (B,L,D)
10am Departure by Tuk Tuk to discover Kep, a region glorified during the 1960’s as the “Cambodian Riviera” visited by the likes of Jackie Kennedy.
Stop en route at a famous Kampot pepper plantation. Kampot Pepper is the first Cambodian product to receive the French appellation d’origine contrôlée—a geographical indication that protects trade names for special food products, like Champagne. We will tour the grounds and learn about why this pepper is so special and then learn the best way to cook with it as we prepare our lunch in a hands on cooking class.
3pm Check in and relax by the pool before heading for sunset, dinner and drinks at Kep’s famous Crab Shacks. Arguably the best place to view sunset in Cambodia, out over the Gulf of Thailand. Tonight we enjoy a seafood extravaganza.
Day 4 – (B,L,D)
Morning at leisure. Suggestions: Kep National Park, Kep beach, searching for abandoned art deco villas (left to the jungle for nearly three decades after the overthrow of the Khmer Rouge), pool, relax.
1pm Meet at the Crab Market for a market tour and a delicious seafood feast inside the market, watch as the ladies pull in the crabs fresh from the ocean, as they have been doing since the roaring 1920s, and enjoy a truly unique, local experience.
530 – Meet for farewell sunset cocktails and canapés and then on for our farewell dinner, a French affair.
